課程英文簡介(Introduction to the course in English)
This course explores the harmful substances generated during feed processing, storage, and utilization, as well as livestock and poultry waste produced after digestion and metabolism. The course investigates their impacts on animal physiological mechanisms and issues related to environmental sustainability.
■ 課程目標及內涵 (Course Objectives and Contents) Due to climate change and industrial pollution, both livestock and companion animal production now face numerous feed ingredient and environmental contamination challenges, which significantly affect feed nutritional value and animal growth performance. Meanwhile, animal production itself generates considerable waste. Therefore, focusing solely on feed or nutrition is no longer sufficient for the modern livestock industry. This course integrates discussions on the toxicity and detoxification of common feed and environmental contaminants encountered during animal rearing, as well as the sustainable utilization of animal waste.
■ 總結式課程目標 Summary of Course Objectives
課程目標 Assessment Item
1
Explore common plant toxins and contaminants in feed ingredients and diets.
2
Evaluate toxic mechanisms of plant toxins or contaminants in livestock and companion animals.
